Min-MC Ride – Helmet Fail

On Sunday we had a small motorcycle club ride, 3 total! Simple thrash around Sacramento. Went to lots of local parks and stopped for yummy Mexican food!

Cooling off at the park

Looking forward to a full club ride this weekend!

Very quick selfie peeps!

Helmet Issues

Sad to say my new helmet has been a pain. Tried two sizes. I’m between sizes and frankly think it was the wrong shape for my head!

So it went back to the store – very sad!

Went for a Street & Steel Raider Helmet. It fits me perfectly. It has the street cafe style I was going for. It’s not as airy but still more air then my full faced helmet. I’m loving the look.

Love it peeps!

Wearing with 100% goggles.

Yeah Baby!

Helmets – Staying Cool!

Okay everyone I need to confess I have spent a LOT of hours researching helmets! I want to be cool, as in temperature. Being honest I also want to look awesome!!! Maybe more chick thing, maybe not.

I have already purchased a Yema modular helmet (white) and a Sidici full face (black). The modular is nice in the heat however with the front up becomes painful to my neck in about 2mins.

The Sidici black above is really nice but just too hot on a hot summer day! Especially since I live in sunny California.

What Helmet is Right for Me?

So what to do. I’m little apprehensive of an open faced helmet – not judgement here on others choices. I have promised my Dad to be as safe as possible. So for the first year not seeing open faced as an option…. Revisiting the decision next year.

I have purchased two options to try out. I’ve tried on like 40 helmets now, love Cycle Gear! Trying on in person is so the way to go, of course maintaining social distancing peeps!

Bell Moto-3 Fasthouse Checkers Helmet – DOT & ECE certified – I bought from Cycle Gear for approximately $300 with free shipping. Tried the style in-house but went for a design like my bike!

Love the checkers!
Need some goggles for this one

Matches Racy Ryker perfectly.

Ryker Rally Side-panel!

SZBYKJ Unisex PU Leather Helmets 3/4 Motorcycle Chopper Bike Helmet Open Face Vintage Motorcycle Helmet – DOT Certified – I bought on Amazon for approximately $60 with free shipping. Bought a while back – before I did my massive trying on visit to Cycle Gear.

Love the vintage style!
Face mask and goggles make big vintage statement!

Some snapshots of other helmets I was considering…..

What do you think peeps? What do you wear?

Can-Am Ryker Visualization App ROCKS!

Okay very excited to share the app you can download from your App Store!

Ryker AR

Just search “Ryker AR“

The app enables you to view your ride and what Can-Am customizations/products will look like. If you add anything that conflicts with your current build it notifies you! Very cool peeps!

Snapped a couple pics while dreaming of customizations while soaking in my bath. It’s so fun! Just know it can be a little addictive, but that’s part of the thrill of owning a Ryker.

My VR Ryker Rally – Racy Red!

If your looking to purchase you can get an idea on prices. Just remember it does not include Tax/title, build, delivery; plus labour for additional customizations & products. Each state is different, but call your dealer for pricing estimates. Speaking of dealers, the app tells you what dealers are in your area by distance; this is very helpful for comparing pricing etc.

Mono Seat Cowl – Can-Am 2020 Customization!

Anyone know what the AR stands for?

What customizations do you want or have?

Second Wind – Finding Myself – Mental Health

I am so enjoying riding my Ryker Rally. To me it’s much more than just a trike. It’s a passion rediscovered, its doing something just for me, an exhale and continuing to finding myself. With big improvements to my mental health.

I’ve been on a journey of self discovery. After a horrific experience (gang rape) I experienced PTSD, recovered and had several relapses. Part of recovery has been a lot of inner work to get better mental health. Meditation, self reflection, therapy, and ongoing self care. I’m doing great right now peeps!

Riding has been exhilarating. I’m loving making new Ryker/Trike connections. Taking this passing and living my best life. In addition finding myself along the way.

Open road is great for mindfulness.

I’m learning to trust myself and my riding skills. At the same time seeing improved self esteem and confidence!

Being a part of Can-Am On-Road “Women of On-Road” group on Facebook is so informative and amazing. Highly recommend joining if you female; have or are considering getting a Ryker or Spyder.

Guys the Can-Am On-Road is a good option for you.

So I’m going out riding this weekend while staying safe and continuing my journey!

What is your experience peeps? Does riding help your mental health?

First Group Ride!

OMGOSH I’m in LOVE with my Ryker experience! Nothing but positive things to say about my Racy Ryker and how she rides. Day three and she all broken in.

Joined a local riding group “shout out“ to Ryker Ryderz Sacramento! Felt completely welcome and had a blast.

More rides please!!!

Started off easy and worked up to 65miles p/h then windy roads that made me a better rider, improved my confidence and skills. Might of hit 70miles p/h at one point! I assure you I was safe.

Imagine I’m going riding ever day possibly this summer! Considering changing my hours so I can take 1hr for lunch every day just to ride.

If your considering a Ryker my day three experience is exhilarating…… it’s my dream coming true peeps!

Discovered passion that has lifted my soul to a higher vibration.

Namaste

If your thinking of taking the plunge, just do it! The Ryker is easy to ride safer than two wheels and gets LOTS of attention.

Stay safe peeps!

Safety Gear – New Rider

So I rode some when I was 18/19 yrs old a few times. Almost 50 now and excited to rediscover a new/old passion! VERY important is to do this as safely as possible. So see my choices below.

Jacket

I went for a mesh street approved jacket. Critical for the hot weather here in sunny California.

Even had a “safety crafting” to put in a more substantial back protector peeps! So my new protector didn’t fit so I cut it down…. With COVID-19 would have been a pain to return…

Yes I did!
Successful Fit!

Helmet

Starting with a full helmet. Went with Sidici 2020 helmet – fixed the visor issue for 2020. Also got a modular helmet to try. Interested in 3/4 helmet with chin guard, but after I’m more confident.

Love the way open face helmets look however for me it’s not an option. No judgment here peeps if your a fan!

Boots

Tried a few motorcycle boots. Also street approved boots, decided some boots I already own would work. Important to be over the ankles. So my lightweight timberlands are perfect! Also have some cowboy boots that I think will work. But my timberlands are so comfy I haven’t tried them yet.

Bam!

Pants

Went for the new women’s street leggings with reinforced behind and knees. I also put in pads. Few I tried were way too big. Ended up improvising and bought shoulder pads. Fit perfect in my leggings. Waist it a little big so planning a trip to the tailor, for now a belt is holding them up!

Gloves

So I bought some online, plus one from Cycle Gear. Both have issues. Online are a little big. Other set did not have ability to use smartphone gloved. Heard you can add finger pad to the index finger so going to try that.

So still searching for the perfect pair! Excited to look at Memorial Day sales. Currently using my bigger gloves. Now know tight fitting, with smartphone enabled is best.

Stay Safe Peeps!

Racy Red – My new Ryker

So what a wild ride. I swear I was soooo scared riding home from the dealership!

Totally distracted I got lost riding home. Got up to 60mile p/hr and rode from Elk Grove CA- to Folsom CA.

All up I rode 400 miles day 1, hands were cramping as I had a death grip!!! So something I’m going to work on.

Relax those vice grip hands peeps!

Need better control cornering and gaining confidence peeps!

Ryker Pickup

I’m picking up my new Ryker Rally 2020 today! I’m beyond excited. The journey is beginning.

I love my life. Like every person there have been challenges. Including a major struggle with PTSD/depression after a very traumatic experience. Fast forward almost 10years, I had an attempted break-in after a major move to California, then a relapse.

So why a trike?

I am rediscovering myself and my passions. Doing something that is just for me. Hoping to reconnect with who I am as an individual by hitting the open road.

So ready to feel the wind and excitement!
