Sunday Thoughts – Finding Peace in these times

The uprising and protests for social justice are challenging Institutionalized Racism here in the USA and around the world. It is a moment that is screaming out all the pain and injustice felt in our communities. A horrid storm of events ripping off our scabs of pain to see our society scream collectively ENOUGH.

At this historic moment we have an open road of possibilities before us, to co-create a world that works for all. Can “we” replace fear with LOVE?

What does that look like?

Today I took the opportunity to exhale and spend a little time reflecting and looking after my own mental health. Something we all need to do from time to time. Spiritual connection & meditation is again prioritized in my daily routine. I know it’s what works for me in difficult times.

A few weeks ago my mental health was triggered by a physical incident with a “boyfriend” that left my arm and inner self bruised. My PTSD flared and I was in a spiral when The George Floyd video first appeared.

I reached out for help, talked to a new therapist and reset my work hours. This has enabled me to focus and exhale in this moment.

I’m remembering to take time to nurture myself, so I’m able to meet this moment with passion and determination.

I’ve have been riding my Ryker to think. On the open road I keep envisioning meeting this moment of change and healing before us, with grace. In my meditation last night, in the still silence between my heartbeats, I started seeing glimpses of what that society could look like. All races and differences celebrated, full embraced and above all free!

What do you see? Can we open our hearts and put down fear of the other?

Do you find riding exhilarating, fun, highly cathartic and at times meditative for you?
